ENTRY DESCRIPTION
During my five-day stopover in London earlier this May, I visited the Tate Modern each afternoon, hoping for the correct afternoon light to shine through the building's large, iconic window to achieve my visualised black and white image. It was near the end of my penultimate day in London, and the museum was about to close; we were beginning to be ushered out. The weather forecast for my final day in the capital was bleak, to say the least, making that afternoon my last chance.
Although it was overcast, there were occasional breaks in the clouds. Miraculously, one of these breaks produced the long-awaited beam of light, which shone onto the great hallway and created a scene as close as possible to my patiently awaited black-and-white dream image. It looked like Mother Nature was looking after me!
I rushed up the escalator, managing my excitement as I snapped a few images before the light disappeared behind the clouds once more. Happily, I marched back to my hotel, hoping that what I had captured met my planned visualisation. Upon downloading and reviewing my image, I was quite happy with the result.

A very keen amateur photographer, originally from Liverpool (UK) now settled in Brisbane, Australia. Although often found wandering the streets with my camera in hand, I am actively involved in other genres of photography and just as comfortable in the studio or at a music gig or large social event. The creative aspect of capturing story telling imagery is something that fascinates and excites me, I get an adrenalin rush when I open an image on my computer and find that I have captured the essence of what I visualised when I pressed the shutter button.
