Architecture: Honorable Mention 2025 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This is the building of the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar. Its slick presentation is good to catch light and shade to give a striking look. It is built on an island off an artificial projecting peninsula near the traditional dhow harbor. Designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning Chinese American architect I.M. Pei, the museum opened in 2008 and is noted for its vast collection of Islamic art spanning 1300 years. The photo was taken in April 2025.
AUTHOR
A photography artist with a Ph.D. in computer science specialized in computer graphics and geometric modeling. I worked for IBM Research and other high-tech companies in my early career, and then moved to management consulting, as a chief architect in enterprise architecture. Photography is my new endeavor in recent years, which could be a natural extension from my hobby and talent in paintings at younger age. My dancing experience may serve as another artistic spin.
I like to catch the essence and soul of the objects that interest me and talk back in my interpretation and expression. Photography is a way of communication between me and the world around me. Some of my work can be found in:
