ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This piece was inspired by the film Nightwatching by Peter Greenaway, which explores the life and context behind the most iconic and controversial work of Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. Birth of Rembrandt represents the most painful side of the painter’s existence, evoking not only his artistic genius but also the shadows that marked his personal life.

AUTHOR
My name is Karen Antúnez, a graduate of the Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at UNAM. Thanks to my experience and academic training, I have developed a critical and sensitive perspective that is reflected in my photographic practice, where technique becomes a tool that strengthens the narrative of the image and the meaning it conveys.

My work is rooted in the cognitive process of evocation, through which I represent ideas that emerge from memory, emotions, feelings, and experience, transforming them into visual concepts that, through a conscious process, become images.

In this way, each image I create is born from a narrative intention that seeks to express my relationship with evocation and to share it with society, generating a meaningful visual dialogue between my work and the viewer—building languages that invite people to feel, remember, and question through critical reflection on concepts.
