Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2025 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
When a volcano erupts and sends lava high into the air it is called "high fountaining" by volcanologists. This mountain looked to be high fountaining but in this case it was a long exposure that showed the clouds moving over the peak. As soon as they did so they then evaporated making this image strange and otherworldly.
This was photographed along a remote fjord called Mjoifjordur, in the east of Iceland in September 2025.
AUTHOR
I'm a keen amateur photographer with a passion for minimalist, abstract and otherworldly images. This kind of photography allows me to create and quite frankly escape a little bit from 'reality.' I live in rural North Wiltshire in the UK but through my job I have had the opportunity to travel far and wide. I particularly like seascapes but dabble in all kinds of landscape. Currently use Fuji GFX kit.
