ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The Cretto of Burri is a work of Land Art created by Alberto Burri to commemorate the destruction of the city of Gibellina (Trapani, Sicily) due to the 1968 earthquake. The work consists of an enormous concrete blanket covering the rubble of the ancient town center, faithfully following the layout of the old streets and houses, creating a "shroud" that encompasses and eternalizes the memory of the tragedy.
Walking in the ancient streets gives you shivers.
