Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2025 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This image was taken in the La Puna region near Salta in the north-west of Argentina. What appeals to me about the image is the similar shapes of the volcano and the cloud (only they are inverted) and that one is so substantial and the other ephemeral. In these landscapes, humankind is transient, only the land endures.
AUTHOR
Ian Kemp is a fine art photographer who graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Photography in 2017. He has been steadily building his reputation with solo exhibitions in major regional galleries in Victoria and being selected as a finalist in two major national competitions in 2025.
His subject is often about impermanence and the transience of human life and this is illustrated within his landscape, fine art and still life images.
