ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Point Wild on Elephant Island is in the South Shetlands, Antarctica.

Point Wild is named after Frank Wild, leader of the party from Shackleton's shipwrecked expedition which camped and managed to survive on the point for four and a half months. After several failed attempts they were finally rescued on 30th August 1916 .

It is one of the most inhospitable places on earth.

It was the curled shape of the point with its amazing rock formation that caught my imagination. To be stranded here for months next to such beauty, but in such harsh conditions hardly bears thinking about.

It has now been taken over by a Gentoo Penguin colony which seems to add further to the overall shape.

I have always loved photography. What I really enjoy is taking images that first and foremost appeal to me. They must always evoke a memory of a past event or an experience - the coldness of the snow, the taste of coffee, the smell of a perfume, the music which was playing at the time and most importantly, family and friends. To me, photography is a true art form which must have an emotional connection.

I have a fairly eclectic style. Basically, if I like it, I'll shoot it.

Photography for me is a journey of continual innovation and improvement - always striving to be better and trying to look at things in a different way - the inspiring moment, a dash of the unexpected and a hint of the unknown.
