AUTHOR
My name is Gonçalo Martins, i'm 39 years old, born and raised in the south coast of Portugal.I always wanted to capture special moments of my friends, life episodes, sports (skateboarding...) through a video camera, a photo camera....

In 2005 i bought a compact camera and with great enthusiasm made some photos. By the end of 2006 i bought an entry level DSLR Nikon D70 camera and i started to grow my interest. Very soon i realized that the camera had too many buttons and reading the big manual i didn't understand what they mean about shutter speed, aperture, hyperfocal... So i felt in me the need to learn photography from the basics and soon i discover the works of Ansel Adams, Edward and Brett Weston, Yousuf Karsh, Ruth Bernhard(....)and just felt amazed by their work, their quality and all the great feelings that their work were producing on me! Also doing all these great images with film and view cameras was just mind blowing for me!

I started to study all these masters, bought a medium format camera and till these days is what i shoot 99% of the time. I also build a darkroom and i develop my film and print my photographs. Due to the big amount of negatives and lack of time to be in the darkroom as i wanted, in the beginning of this year i bought a printer and started to print also on inkjet paper.
My main interest in photography is landscape and nude.

I learn everyday with photography and i still love my hobby!
