ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photograph was part of a university assignment called "Left behind". I had recently moved to another flat and found some objects left there by the previous tenant. I asked some friends if they had found any other objects left in their homes by the previous occupants when they moved out. So, I could collect various objects and photographed them. I am very interested in "traces" left in places by people. You can't help but to imagine what kind of people used those ordinary items. You don't know if the objects were left there on purpose or if they were simply forgotten. My entire focus was on the fan and that is why I have chosen a very simple, black background as I did not want anything distracting in the photograph.
This particular picture was not selected for the final images because it was shot in medium format film and I ended up completing the assignment using a digital camera. It is one of my favourite images, though.
