ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Walking out of a gallery in Mendocino, CA, I saw the sun beginning to break through the fog. I grabbed my camera and ran to the edge of bluffs just in time to make this photograph.

AUTHOR
Although I studied photography in college, including traditional darkroom techniques, I set aside my camera to pursue graduate studies, which eventually took me to Scotland (Ph.D., University of Edinburgh). In 2000 my father gave me a medium format camera, and that renewed my interest in photography. I am the author of seven non-fiction books and currently working on a novel. I recently retired from my work as a Presbyterian pastor. I am married to Shari, and we enjoy our family and friends and dog, reading, sailing, hiking, and of course good food and wine.
