Landscape: Honorable Mention 2014 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
A treescape in rural England at dawn on the winter solstice. Layers of mist hang between scattered trees in gardens, hedgerows and copses. When captured with a telephoto lens, this created the appearance of layers of trees. Many different species are visible, and on further gazing, some buildings become apparent.
Later in the day the scene appeared completely unremarkable. I enjoy finding the extraordinary in the everyday. I enjoy working in monochrome and often deliberately, as in this photograph, capture an image with this in mind.
Lumix DMC-G3, 300mm (600mm equivalent in 35mm format), f8.0, 1/640sec, ISO400, tripod. Captured in RAW format, 4592x3448px (not cropped), with minimal development in Adobe Lightroom. Post-processed to black and white with Silver Efex.
