Fashion: Honorable Mention 2014 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Initially, my idea was to create a monochrome editorial series of images using various silhouettes of hats on a simple white paper background. We wanted to create an old vintage Hollywood vibe. Our fashion stylist Paula Parisotto pulled numerous unique pieces of hats and dresses to satisfy our mood board. The super model I had picked, Cynthia Kirchner, had a kind of a classic style and beauty similar to Grace Kelly or Katherine Hepburn. So this was a perfect concept for her. Makeup artist Alex Tran and hairstylist Michael Bui came up with classic looks, starting with a clean beauty look and then moving toward dark and smoky tones by the end of the shoot. Paula had pulled so many amazing classic gown pieces that made it sort of evolved to more of a fashion shoot on paper background. Once we got on-location, which was her house in Hollywood Hills, my team really wanted to use her house as the backdrop. After all, we only had one chance to shoot at the house; we could shoot in a studio any time. They convinced me to shoot this on-location. So before we start anything, this had already evolved from a monochrome beauty editorial featuring various silhouettes of hats to a full on-location fashion shoot. I kept the whole fashion editorial monochrome, but we still had to leverage everyone’s expectations to find a solution that would please the entire team. This particular image was the eight look on the model. We were already at noon time and the sun was high up in the sky. So we decided to shoot this one inside her master bathroom.
