People: Honorable Mention 2014 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I made this photo on the night train from Syktyvkar to Kotlas, in Russia. To my surprise, the "sleeping car" was communal, a forest of arms and legs, unlike those in other Russian trains I've taken. Digital Canon image, converted to B&W.
AUTHOR
I grew up in NYC and have lived in Maine since 1972. I've been passionate about photography since I was seven -- 60 years ago. I love my Leica M3 and Soviet Leica Mount lenses. I scan the negatives into the Mac and edit them. I aim to create timeless images and I prefer to work in B&W. Since taking my first photo class in 1972 I've taken countless workshops at the Maine Media Workshops. My work has illustrated many of the books and articles I have written and is on permanent display at two Russian venues. I've had 25 traditionally published books. Most are about dolls and teddy bears or are mystery anthologies. Currently I'm writing a mystery novel.I once was internationally famous for the teddy bears I designed.
