Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2014 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Four days after their homes were wiped out by storm surges caused by super typhoon Haiyan last November 08, 2013, kids who came with their elders to avail of a free plane ride out of Tacloban City, cover their ears from the noise of a USMC C-130 plane taxiing in Tacloban City Airport, as they wait to get a free plane-ride to get out of “Ground Zero”.
AUTHOR
Started as news photographer in 1992 for a newspaper in Cebu City, Philippines, and went freelance in 1999. With a film SLR and a negative scanner, I ventured to war-stricken Mindanao to document the conflict between the Philippine government and Muslim separatist in 2000, 2003 and 2005.
Last 2012, I earned my Diploma in Photojournalism at Kondrad Adenauer Asian Center For Journalism in Ateneo de Manila University.
From my rented abode near the sea I continue to do projects at my own pace.
