ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The portrait of the Pole Jacek Z., as a young concentration camp prisoner in Auschwitz-Birkenau, was created on 26 January 2013, one day before the 68th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. The young Austrian photographer Sebastian "Nepomuk" Holzknecht, born in 1983, created the portrait in the context of his photographic project "NOT GUILTY" in the library of the Centre for Dialogue and Prayer in Auschwitz.
Under the title "NOT GUILTY", the young artist developed his first independent project work as a photographic record of the past. The project contains a total of 41 large format portraits of the elderly survivors as well as installations and photographs, which have not yet been presented to the public as a whole, at original locations from Poland through Russia to Germany.
