ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The image I have chosen is portraying the concept that animals and humans are more closely related than we would like to admit. I've been studying the characteristic similarities between humans and different species from the animal kingdom, and I chose this particular combination because of the disturbing amount of passion and rage that is expressed in the lion's expression.
I purposefully covered the face of the human portrait to take away the identity of subject, allowing a much more instant connection between the viewer and the image.
The lion is roaring to be heard, crying for help, and is illustrating the suffering of the entire animal kingdom because we do not treat them with as much equality and respect that we should. The viewers interpretation of the messages portrayed by the image is up to them, but hopefully the photography makes them feel the same ways about this idea as I do, even for a moment.
