From the Series Between Land and Lake
Every photo tells a story. For me, the stories have something to do with the poetry of place and the message that is conveyed in the here and now.
Driven by chance encounters and spontaneous responses my motivations are less about a specific location but more in the everyday moments and the changing nature of place as a narrative device. This series of images span the landscape between the land once known as Siam to the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia. They reveal intimate truths about human experience, culture and everyday life; they provide the setting for the formation of collective identities and my response to place.
AUTHOR
JP Terlizzi is a visual storyteller who creates images that are investigations of the inner self. He draws inspiration from his personal experiences and memories to capture moments that convey narratives. Whether the story is a framed moment of intimacy or a poetic interpretation of fading reality, his work is deeply rooted in wonder, memory and dreams.
Based in Manhattan, JP’s career spans thirty years as creative director for a boutique agency specializing in retail design. He studied photography at Kutztown University of PA and the International Center of Photography in New York. His work has been exhibited in the United States and abroad.
He also finds writing in the third person a little strange.
