ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Antelope Canyon
Arizona USA
Nikon D2X; Nikkor 17-55mm lens @34mm; 1/90 sec; F/5.6; ISO 640; Aperture Priority; Matrix Metering; Hand Held
This photo was taken in the canyon using the two walls on either side to accent the wall behind them.
By doing this it gives the photo the appearance of the background being the sole object of the picture...you don't know what to focus on as your eyes are drawn to the lighter object which is not an object at all but the back wall....giving it an abstract vision to the whole.
AUTHOR
Annie Katz was born in Portland, Maine in 1947. She spent her childhood years growing up on the Coast in Falmouth Foreside, a seaside community seven miles North of Portland.
Annie's first interest in photography came at an early age when her brother, who was twelve years older, bought an Argus camera and began taking pictures. Her first photos were taken at the age of eight! Some of these appear on this website under the "Maine" folder.
During her college years she ventured more seriously into the world of photography, purchasing her first "real camera" in 1967. After graduating from college she went to work as a flight attendant for TWA based in New York City. It was during this time period with TWA that she began to take photographs of the rest of the world and vowed to always travel.
Moving eventually to Miami,Florida she got a job with the Miami Herald and then with Associated Press photographing mainly sports. She then went on to travel the world photographing race cars for two noted US teams.
After sports photography she ventured into the world of wildlife photography traveling the world from Africa, India, Asia, Central America, the Islands, Alaska, the Arctic, all over the United States and Europe and various other places in between! Although wildlife is her love, she still loves photographing people, landscapes and different cultures from all over the world.
It's an interesting and varied world out there - there's a lot out there to capture with the lens and tell a story with the camera!
She shoots with Nikon D5's and, more often than not, a 600mm or 800mm Nikkor lens.
Drawn towards action photography, the outdoors, and a deep love of animals..... wildlife is a natural.
