ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Taken on a bridge above the Rhine river in Germany, the broken glass filter creates a picturesque effect and a contrast between the(literally) sharp foreground and the blurred landscape.
AUTHOR
Luisa Riekes is a Berlin based photographer from Brazil. She was born in Sao Paulo in 1982 and spent the last eight years in Germany. She was 15 years old when she got her first camera, an automatic 35mm Kodak. She studied photography at the Academy of Music and Media in Berlin and completed her Masters Degree in Photography at Kingston School of Art in London. She also has a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences. Sociologist and photographer, she seeks to capture her surrounding through themes such as religion, social stratification, political struggles and nature. In her work as a social documentary photographer, she aims to capture images exactly as they are, not interfering in reality.
