Architecture: Honorable Mention 2015 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
'BEYOND THE CLOUDS' shows the three tallest structures of Shanghai. The Shangai Tower (632 m), the Shanghai World Financial Center (492 m) and the Jin Mao Tower (382 m). Each of them create an ostacle in the clouds. It shows the velocity, swirls and the turbulences as if they were placed in a wind tunnel.
By chosing that very perspective, the border wether the picture is taken from above or below cloud-level vanishes.

AUTHOR
"When it comes to ART, very much lies in the subjective eye of the beholder: one’s personal taste. Otherwise ART would be mAinsTReam." OTOKO
OTOKO is the japanese word for „man“. It contains both initials T for T horben and K for K remers. The japanese culture had a strong impact on OTOKO’s photographic style.
Having bought his first professional camera at the age of 16, learning the ART of photography in an autodidactical way, OTOKO was blessed with eyesight, and an indexfinger to release the shutter button at the very moment, capturing moments, feelings, moods,... to make them last forever.
Coming from a very ARTistical family background, OTOKO’s photos mainly show clean & simple structures with straight lines. Being an analyst OTOKO tends to have an eye for patterns and structures which might not be distinguishable at first sight.
OTOKO holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and is based in Stuttgart, Germany.
