Fashion / Beauty: Honorable Mention 2015 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I'm working on a collaboration with an american Jewelry designer, Rob Bacon. I've got the total freedom to use his pieces for my work so I balance shooting 'for him' and shooting 'for me'. I loved combining the model and the crown with this packaging sheet, to give the whole mood a twist and challenge.
AUTHOR
Bernhard trained as a photographer in the South of Germany where the studio he worked for wanted him to join as
a partner after the apprenticeship.
He refused and moved to Bielefeld, Germany, to study further, living in a trailer for a while and between uni and
Berlin towards the end of his stay in Bielefeld. He became a students’ rep, part of the deanery and the assistant of
his main professor, Karl-Martin Holzhaeuser.
Bernhard left Bielefeld half way through his studies and moved to London where he got an unconditional offer to
enrol for the MA in Photography at the LCC, London University of the Arts.
He graduated in 2007, already assisting photographers Axel Hoedt and Laetita Negre in East London.
After a short time in one of London’s production studios, Bernhard opened his own studio he initially would share
with 3 other photographers but soon ran by himself - and got married to his high-school sweetheart who moved to
London in 2007!
Steady and great work helped building up a presentable list of clients and a strong portfolio. Bernhard puts passion
and effort into each and every job and always exceeds the briefing and delivers extra images.
A true image creator he’s constantly looking for new ways to work with and within (digital) cameras, printing large
format black and white prints by hand at the same time.
