Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2015 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
An alien-like landform in the middle of Arizona, Horseshoe Bend is a gorge hundreds of feet deep and one of the most interesting rock formations on the planet. I arrived there when it was pitch black and with no safety fences anywhere it was difficult to navigate to this spot without almost falling down the sheer face of the cliffs. When the first light came and I could see further than 2 meters in front of me, the sight of this place and the serenity was absolutely magical. I was there for under 2 hours but this place has implanted an ever lasting memory in my mind and I'm glad I got to capture it. To give you an example of the scale of things here... That black line around the water moat are full size trees.
AUTHOR
Az Jackson is a self-taught, multi-award winning Australian fine art landscape photographer who typically shoots landscapes, architectural and travel images of popular places around the world.
You can usually find him on top of a mountain, in the middle of a remote desert or right in the thick of things in some of the biggest cities in the world.
He has been pushing the boundaries of photography for the last 10 years. In his work he strives to capture exactly how he sees the world… vibrant, decadent and bursting with life. “I want to uplift people’s spirit and grab their attention in a positive, constructive way and leave them questioning the world around them.” he says.
But at the heart of it all it's about capturing images that inspire people to go "WOW! What a beautiful world we live in."
