Portrait: Honorable Mention 2015 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photo portraits a person you might have listened to all your life, without ever seeing his face. You might have cried, laughed or wondered while listening to him.
The person behind that beautiful voice is Friedrich (Fritz) Beckhaus, one of Germanys most talented voice over artists, who successfully lent his voice to a myriad of actors around the world.
Making the invisible visible has a double meaning in this photo, as Fritz Beckhaus allows us to see behind his curtain. A melancholic and vulnerable, yet strong man, behind a voice that captivates us since many years.
AUTHOR
As an enthusiastic amateur photographer, he started to explore the world of underwater photography in 2003. Pictures of a large sum of big and small fish, as well as neoprene disguised security divers, where followed by the ‘mermaids underwater model shootings’.
Those shootings triggered media attention and encouraged him to take first photographically steps "ashore". This was followed by countless portrait shootings, as well as special business portfolios for politicians, actors and musicians. Numerous photographic excursions to all corners of the world, such as the Maldives, Havana, Brazil or the United States complete his portfolio.
Besides his profesison as a photographer, Rainer Raschewski accompanied a myriad of international film productions during their preparation for the German TV and film market, as well as working as a dialogue author and director for voice-over.
He lives and works in Berlin Kreuzberg.
