I found these amazing poppies close to where I live and I was desperate to capture them and the stark contrast against the whitewashed wall. Though in colour the red flowers are stunning (as you can imagine), I feel monochrome captures too the contrasting hues and shades. In fact for me I feel it works brilliantly as a monochrome image as it highlights more the delicate and vulnerable flowers from the stems to the leaves to the petals and buds. Sadly poppies don't last long so I was glad to catch them in this state. A natural picture in natural light using my Pentax K-50.
