Architecture: Honorable Mention 2016 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Artificial Illumination is my theme that showcases images of low light created by man-made illumination cascading over our nocturnal world. The struggle of light holding back the fluidity of the darkness is something I enjoy capturing giving the viewer a surreal perspective. Most of us live and work during the day and only use artificial light as a means to navigate through the dark. Hopefully, my images will show a world that many of us unconsciously fear and don't appreciate because we are to timid to venture into the shadows.
AUTHOR
My name is Ron Quick and I live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I'm a hobbyist photographer specializing in urban scenes that feature strong elements of architecture mostly in black/white with a heavy presence of night scenes. My interest in photography began over ten years ago when I attended a 9 week introductory course in digital photography during my undergraduate degree. With my wife's support I have made photography a serious hobby so much so that I spend almost every free moment shooting, editing, or learning about my craft. I hope to eventually introduce my daughter to the wonderful world of digital photography so she can experience the immense joy that I do. Photography for me has three main elements: adventure of shooting, anticipation in seeing my uploaded photos, and the reaction of others viewing my images. Hopefully, my portfolio will create a smile of wonderment or at the very least appreciation for what can be captured through the lens. In viewing my images I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
