AUTHOR
Joshua Tann is a fine art photographer residing in Long Beach, California. He loves creating images from his surroundings, particularly when he travels. He believes that photography is the best medium for his artistic work because it gives him the most creative freedom. Most of his photographic images are influenced by his love of art and architecture, something that was nurtured throughout his youth and adulthood, despite his profession as a psychotherapist. His creative process starts with an inspiration and involves many factors in addition to the aesthetics, such as the relationships between lighting and structures or angles and environment. From here he would find the essence, or “soul” of the photograph, usually after many shots of the same image, with different factors applied. A final photograph would emerge from this process as the expression of his creative interpretation of that image with the hope of inspiring the viewing public.
He received a certificate in Professional Photography from the New York Institute of Photography and is a member of PPA (Professional Photographers of America). He also received a postgraduate degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University as his formal education.
Mr. Tann is a finalist of the Best Photography 2014, 2015 and 2016 by Photographer’s Forum and participated in numerous group and solo photography exhibitions, and was selected in several curated local and international exhibitions. He is especially excited about the group exhibit in Budapest, Hungary and the International Art Fair at the Carrousel du Louvre, Paris. His work has been acquired by art collectors in United States, Mexico, United Kingdom and Canada.
