ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This is “Dimitrios”, a shipwreck stranded since 1981 on a beach near Gythio in southern Peloponnese, Greece. Its rather bizarre to see it perched on the beach. I tried to strengthen the surreal feeling with my black and white interpretation.
AUTHOR
Gregoris Mentzas is a black and white amateur photographer leading a double life as a university professor in management information systems and a passionate photographer. Back in the analog film era, he attended a two-year course at a photography school, a one-year seminar on cinematography and film directing and participated in seminars given by renowned Greek photographers. An avid black and white analog photographer, he let his passion stay dormant for years and only recently started anew his journey in digital photography.
His work focuses on the concepts of time and decay, tranquility and silence.
