Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2016 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Pentecost 2014 a severe storm named Ela reached Düsseldorf and destroyed one third (!) of all trees in town. It took weeks to remove what Ela left, and it took months to check all trees if they were damaged and cut off torn branches. So near the river Rhine there were trees affected by Ela and those which escaped unscathed. During the following winter there was only one day with snow, so the people came out with their slides. It was a very special sight between the trees with and without branches.
AUTHOR
Born 1966, starting to take pictures with about 10 years of age. For my first SLR (Canon A-1) I had to weed in an arboretum for six weeks in my summer school holidays … one has to make sacrifices. My grandfather gave me an old enlarger, my favourite film was the Ilford XP-1, ages ago. Ever since I loved to photograph, and also ever since I admired the strength of monochrome pictures.
