The reflection of tree branches in the fall of Evanston by Yangmingtian Zhao (United States)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The picture was taken in Evanston, IL, USA in 2016 fall. After a raining day, I was on the way to school and saw the beautiful reflection of tree branches in the water of the roadside. I used my Sony camera to capture this subtle and beautiful reflection.
AUTHOR
Born in Hainan Island, China, Yangmintian Zhao is a professional pianist who is currently doing his Doctoral studies in music performance and pedagogy at Northwestern University. Every year, Mingtian travels to Asia, Europe and many other countries to give concerts. When Mingtian is on concert trips, he always likes to take his camera with him and captures some stunning views and moments that he sees especially the nature and historical architectures. Whether in photography or music performance, Mingtian peruses humanistic, poetic and romantic styles with sensitive passion and refined colors. His musical background always brings him to photograph a number of scenes that associate with well-known historical artists and art events. Mingtian believes that there are no walls between any genre of art. His goal is to share his inspiration of arts with people and discover the greatness of world and beauty of the arts.
As a photographer, Mingtian’s works have been featured on many social networks by some well-known social accounts like Uniqlo, Hainanlife, Rice University, Paris, Kansasphotos and so on. In Mingtian’s photography, there is a combination of both creative concepts and nostalgic looks with sensitive colourations. Mingtian’s professional knowledge of music also influences his aesthetics of photographing. He often applies and mixes the concepts of the structure of frame and choice of color between photography and music. In his piano recitals, he composed and improvised many songs and pieces of music based on the inspirations of pictures he took.
Mingtian received his bachelor degree from the University of Kansas, and Master degree from Rice University. He is currently doing PhD in music performance and Pedagogy at Northwestern University.
