ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I took a 2-month bus trip across Africa in March of 2015. I got off the bus in a very remote area of Namibia and noticed a Himba tribe about a quarter of a mile from my stop. I spent time with the tribe and took very naturalistic photographs of their morning routine. They live off the land and depend on passing by tourists for income. They use this income for supplies at a small town down the road. After my visit with the nice family. I got back on the next bus headed towards Botswana.
AUTHOR
I started traveling in 2009 and became one of two thousand members in the world who belonged to the Travelers Century Club for people who have visited over 100 countries. I also became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and started a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Agency providing treatment to people like my brother who have Autism. Despite my career path I have always been an artist at heart. My mom introduced me to oil painting at a young age and I bought my first film camera freshman year of high school. My interest in photography grew after using my compact camera during my extensive travels and I eventually upgraded to a DSLR. I never went to photography school. However, I taught myself how to become a photographer by analyzing photographs taken by the greats, practicing my ass off, and reading dozens of books about photography. Recently, I came to the conclusion that I have a preference for street, documentary, and travel photography after exploring various types of subjects over the years.
