Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2016 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Spain is one of the lacking countries in which the greyhound haunting is legal and a tradition.
Before, it was a way of support for families in rural areas, but nowadays it has been converted in a sport, keeping the tradition.
In February, at the end of haunting period, the ill dogs less competitive or elders are abandoned or killed by hanging in the worst case, a very agressive practice.
Refugees and shelters can see how their dogs population increases greatly, and in some cases these animals are in a pathetic conditions.
Permisive laws that allows this practic of greyhounds mistreat happens every year in our country.
