Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2016 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I walk the streets looking for interesting people...
Love them all: faces, emotions, glances, mimics, grimaces.
All sorts of people are interesting.
Picturing human emotions is really big challenge...
The man standing behind the empty table just looks like an apostle.
The picture was taken in Prague, Old Town Square, Christmas season of Advent.
AUTHOR
Ales was born in 1952. He studied at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and College in Prague, Czech Republic. Playing bass guitar was his primary passion and filled his life.
He was a permanent member of approximately 20 ensembles including BigBand, TV Orchestra and Theatre Trio. As an author he participated in writing various repertoires for the bands, he released his own compositions on CD‘s, he has also been teaching bass guitar. His skills in teaching music lead him to write his own two-part book for music students (Jazz Time 1 & 2). He has performed at many festivals and jazz clubs in the Czech Republic and abroad. Ales also had a 6-month contract on a cruise ship that travelled the world.
Photography has been his passion since childhood. This passion has since taken over from his music career. His love of photography took over his life in 2010. The reason for this change was finding his dominant theme – portraits. He collects these photographs on the streets and while waiting for the right moment. On the Flicker portal Ales has approximately 200 out of 6000 collected portraits. FACE - EXPLORING EMOTIONS is the name of his gallery. He has received positive response from fellow photographers and members of Flicker. He also won a prestigious competition organised by Flicker, this brought him to an idea to present his work in exhibition venues in Prague, Czech Republic.
