Photomanipulation: Honorable Mention 2016 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I am always seeking new ways to photograph skyscrapers like these in New York City. My original photo was not impressive, but improved when converted to Black & White. Using the Polar Coordinates slider in Photoshop I created a spherical image which nicely typifies the crowding of steel and glass obscuring much of the sky.
AUTHOR
I am a semi retired gastroenterologist. I have been an avid amateur photographer for 50 years, shooting film until 2008 when I switched to digital. I am currently shooting with a Nikon D810. My wife and I travel extensively, giving me an opportunity to photograph many varied landscapes. I also enjoy night photography, astrophotography and candid photos of people. I believe that photography is all about stealing moments. A split second in time saved for eternity. It is important to capture and preserve these moments, for they will remind us, and future generations, of the faces, places and memories which made up our life and times. Some of these moments may evoke sadness and tears; some may bring laughter and joy. As a photographer, I hope that all will bring pleasure to the viewer by evoking memories of our shared experiences called life, and thus bring to fruition Virgil's hope in the Aeneid, "no day shall erase you from the memory of time."
