AUTHOR
Born in Castellamare di Stabia (Naples) in 1961 and living in Treviso since 2004, Umberto Verdoliva has been photographing since 2006. Today he holds workshops and in-depth studies on street photography. Member since 2010 of the international collective "VIVO", in 2013 he founded "Spontanea", Italian collective dedicated to street photography.
He approached photography after seeing FAN HO's Hong Kong works. He is in love with Cartier Bresson, William Klein, Andrè Kertész and Martin Parr, but his greatest passion is the humanity that surrounds him, and of which he is a careful observer.
To Umberto photography is a personal way to understand humanity, its implications and contradictions. It is also his way to bear witness to his time but foremost to him it is a tool for becoming a better man. He wouldn't expect anything less from photography.
