Fine Art: Honorable Mention 2016 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Traditionally, the upper class of Korea considered philosophical grounding as an obligation and they often expressed their ideal philosophy by drawing the “Four Gracious Plants”. Ideal philosophy starts completely from the abstract world. I draw this symbol and set it up on the meaningless white background and transparent acrylic pillar like a monument. After that, I re-record it into the photograph. This action rearranges the position of it’s being. Abstraction becomes reality and goes back to abstraction, two dimensions become three dimensions and goes back to two dimensions. The truth does not exist anymore because it is defined by the form of the being. Only the fact that something ever existed, is present on this photo. Upon this action of double negative, there is only ambiguity.
