Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2017 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The numerous rock formations off the coast of Bandon, Oregon provides endless photographic compositions. This one is perhaps my favourite. Taken in January, the sun is low providing soft lighting and the frequent storms create dramatic cloud formations. These endless rock formations keep drawing me back.
AUTHOR
Richard Vandegriend is a self-taught Vancouver based photographer whose passion is landscape and fine-art photography. Believing that composition and timing are critical to a great image, compositional elements are not altered in post-processing. Instead care and patience are exercised to ensure the image was captured perfectly in camera. As landscape photography is so dependent on lighting and weather conditions, more often than not, great images are discovered rather than planned. One must give themselves the time and opportunity to discover these images.
