Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2017 (amateur)
Déjà Vu. Relive the unforgettable by Jules Le Moal (France)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Photograph taken on September 8 of 2017, in Pyongyang's Metro.
Shot with Minolta XG-1 on Ilford HP5 film. Developed with Ilfosol3 at home, and scanned with OpticFilm Plustek 8100 film scanner.
After the escalade of diplomatic relationships between North Korea and the occident, I decided to book a tour of Pyongyang, to get a feeling of what life is like in North Korea.
Of course, as a tourist you only get to see what the Regime wants you to see.
Anyway it was a great overall experience.
I submit this photo, that i couldn't resist to take, when I noticed the raised arm statue lining up with that security agent wearing a red armband.
I feel like such details and coincidences, in life, are full of meaning when you start reading trough them.
Also, this photograph gives a good feeling of what the experience as a tourist in North Korea can be summarized to.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Sincerely yours,
Jules Le Moal
AUTHOR
My name is Jules Le Moal, I am 27 years old, and I am from Le Mans in France.
I have been working as a waiter for more than ten years now.
My passion for photography started as I traveled in Thailand to follow another passion that was Thai Boxing at the time. It lead me to produce a series of photographs of young boxers in a traning camp of the Bangkok's suburbs.
Since then I explore and experiment with my camera (now a Minolta XG-1 35mm analog camera).
