Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2017 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I'M HERE TOO
I was gone to the poor neighborhood of Sonagachi, in Kolkata, looking for images that documented the living conditions of hundreds of thousands of prostitutes in what is considered one of India's largest open brothels. Turning a camera around the neck in this place certainly does not attract people's sympathies. Many people think, "Here is another Western who came to photograph our poverty for some magazine in exchange for money." At some point this child is approaching, and he insists on being photographed. I content him without thinking too much. Only after seeing the shot i realize the communicative power of his expression, which reminds us that despite the efforts to build tomorrow's society, we just forget who the party will be part of.
