Photomanipulation: Honorable Mention 2017 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Russian churches are magic to me. The beauty of these churches is breathtaking. Some churches don't even look real. Although on of the main features these churches are its colorful facades and colorful or golden onion roof-tops, I was just wondering if the magic of these churches can be expressed in a monochromatic image at all.
I found that the monochrome version of this image allows the eye to focus on form, shapes, contrast and architectural style, without being distracted by the colors.
AUTHOR
I am Austrian Nationality, born in 1966 in Swizerland. I started getting interrest in art when I was 20 years old. I started with "fantasy and surealistic" paintings in acrylic and oil on canvas and managed to get an exhibition arranged for a selection of paintings. Sometime later, I purchased me my forst SLR camera (Film) and started experimenting with B&W photography, however, at this time, taking photography as a serious hobby was too expensive for me (due to film developmant equipment needed for dark room etc.), therefore I stopped photography.
25 years later, I took up photography again. Times had changed with digital photography where dark rooms are not an issue anymore and the development and manipulation of photographs takes place on a PC. I became quite enthusiastic about photography, and, sometimes, feel that I might be obsessed with it.
One of my passions is manipulating photographs with photoshop or similar applications to the extend that it combines different elements of different photographs and even artificially generated elements (back to fantasy and surealistic art).
