There was so much emotion portrayed in that split second.. Bravado, strength, maturity, anger. She wanted to convey so much to me. She needed me to understand. The young Himba girl showed me her village, allowed me to meet family and let me into her world just a little. It wasn't until I looked beneath the facade that I saw her true self. Salt from tears past were the road map to her vulnerability.
AUTHOR
I enjoy both Sport and Wildlife Photography. I first became interested in wildlife photography in 1995 while visiting Africa. My husband and I travelled extensively through Kenya, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Uganda. We were fortunate enough to spend time with the Mountain Gorillas in what used to be known as Zaire, and so my passion for African wildlife and its conservation began.
We have since returned to explore further both Kenya and Tanzania. We have enjoyed the splendors of Uganda, Botswana, Namibia and much of South Africa. Recent time spent at Zimanga Private Game Reserve has been particularily precious.
I donate a number of my images to various foundations such as African Wildlife Foundation and Elephantopia to assist them in the tremendous job they do preserving African wildlife for generations to come. For me, Africa has a way of reaching deep into my soul and through photography I hope to share this with you.
