ENTRY DESCRIPTION
My image captures two white horse of the French Camargue as they galloped past me. I used a slow shutter speed to achieve this soft rendition of the scene unfolding in front of me.
AUTHOR
London-born to Welsh parents, Carys spent her very early years in the city before a move to the more rural South East of England where she spent her formative years. Fortunate enough to be given both a pony and a camera as a child, a life-long fascination with all things equine was given root in those early years. Unbeknownst to her the seeds of her future photographic career had also been sown but it was to be many more years before Carys was able to step aside from a corporate marketing career to combine her two passions - horses and photography. Now, as an award winning equine photographer, she is able to travel extensively to create her fine art images, seeking out and working with horses in their native environments.
To this end in recent years Carys has ventured to Iceland, Portugal, The Netherlands, France, Austria and the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. She finds herself increasingly drawn to locations offering soft, pastel palettes and to situations allowing her to observe horses in their native habitats, where they are free to exhibit natural equine behaviour. She is also intrigued by the creative abilities of the camera, often using slow shutter speeds, multiple exposures and other techniques to create, in-camera, more abstract equine images.
In recent years Carys’s work has appeared in print in national titles and online magazines, whilst her clients include both U.S and U.K retailers.
