ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This portrait of a young giraffe was taken in Kruger National Park, South Africa. With giraffes undergoing a 'silent extinction' across Africa as populations plummet 40% in recent years, their vulnerability in the wild has never been more apparent. I hope this image highlights the fragile place of giraffes in the natural world by framing the young giraffe within the legs of another family member, and the oxpecker perched decorating the young giraffe's head goes some way to highlighting the symbiosis of other wildlife which depend on the survival of the giraffe into the future.
