ENTRY DESCRIPTION
A pair of elephants at Zimanga Private Game Reserve, South Africa come to drink together under stormy skies. It was a very memorable moment for me as a photographer to capture these majestic creatures up close. Aptly named gentle giants, their ability to move gently and quietly was astonishing given their sheer size. It was incredible to witness, especially from a low angle.
AUTHOR
I enjoy both Sport and Wildlife Photography. I first became interested in wildlife photography in 1995 while visiting Africa. My husband and I travelled extensively through Kenya, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Uganda. We were fortunate enough to spend time with the Mountain Gorillas in what used to be known as Zaire, and so my passion for African wildlife and its conservation began.
We have since returned to explore further both Kenya and Tanzania. We have enjoyed the splendors of Uganda, Botswana, Namibia and much of South Africa. Recent time spent at Zimanga Private Game Reserve has been particularily precious.
I donate a number of my images to various foundations such as African Wildlife Foundation and Elephantopia to assist them in the tremendous job they do preserving African wildlife for generations to come. For me, Africa has a way of reaching deep into my soul and through photography I hope to share this with you.
