ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The Emperor Penguins of Antarctica survive and perpetuate their species in the coldest environment of any bird species (air temperatures may reach -40°C and wind speeds may reach 100 miles) driven by instincts developed over centuries.
After laying, and transfers the egg to the male, female immediately returning to the sea for two months to feed. The male will have fasted for around 115 days since arriving at the colony.To survive the cold and winds, the males huddle together to conserve body heat. During this period, the males may lose as much as the half of their total mass.
