ENTRY DESCRIPTION
"Raw"
Organically Art
This series of photographs was taken using low-tech methods, and “Raw” refers to the file format but also to the crude way of looking at the subject. The study doubles the image of the foodstuff and creates an emphasis on structure rather than the eating process. A strong image of the identity of a foodstuff is imprinted in the unconscious, related to colour and purpose. This is why I adopt this approach, which is both an exercise in regenerating the photographic memory and an aesthetic dissection as a tribute mother earth’s produce. In mirrored bio-morphism, the black&white analysis reveals a mysterious, organic image of the food, thereby creating in our conscious mind a new snapshot of the edible transformed into an object.
AUTHOR
A self-taught photographer, I was inspired by mirrors, infinity and Salvador Dali in childhood. Today, my sphere of influence extends from Surrealism to Lyrical Abstraction and from Edward Weston to Lucien Clergue. I consider Clergue my Master and his artistic output is always a synchronistic step ahead of my practice.
