People: Honorable Mention 2017 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I looked through the door to ballroom at the Palmer House hotel in Chicago to see the custodian silhouetted at center stage, vacuuming steadily. His location, gesture, and the repetition of the lines of the curtain and his vacuum cord caught my eye. But it was his steady, unhurried movement that captivated me. He was doing his job, the final act of the day, and I was honored to be his audience.
