Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2017 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The Pacu Jawi races are held in West Sumatrain empty paddy fields which they fill with water. This is called a race, but I was told it is actually showcasing the bulls and their abilities to prospective buyers. Only one pair of bulls run at a time. The jockey stands bare foot with one foot on each harness and holds on to the tails of the bulls and controls their speed and turn by nibbling on the tail.
