Phillips Exeter Academy Library by Ssu-ing Wu
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
As one of the many majestic buildings design by architect Louis Kahn, Phillips Exeter Academy Library acquires its fame by employing the locally manufactured bricks and large span concrete structure to create a spectacular atrium. This space reaches 70 feet in height and soaks in natural light from a clerestory at the top and wash down the heart of the library, along with the dramatic huge circle opening in the concrete wall that gives the library its characteristic on the background. The space not only become one of the most iconic legacies of Kahn, but also attract architects and photographers all around the world here to appreciate the magnificent masterpiece.
