Architecture: Honorable Mention 2018 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This image was captured with the first signs of light of the day. Rue Basse is one of the main streets in Lacoste France, at this time, not even the dogs were meandering the streets. It is always this image that I come back to, that brings out the most beautiful memories of Lacoste.
AUTHOR
I was born in 1972, in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she currently lives and works. I have been an avid photographer all my life, but it wasn’t until 2005 that I acquired a Photography and Printmaking BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). My photogravures have been exhibited in France, Atlanta, Savannah, and New Mexico, leaving my mark in SCAD’s private collection as well as Tom Fischer’s personal art collection.
My primary focus has been on landscape and street photography, creating simplicities yet mysterious complexities from landscapes. My eye for composition, a vision of light, and attraction to design enable me to create extraordinary images of common subjects. I use vintage, archival, alternative and traditional photographic techniques to compliment my vision.
I taught middle school photography for the after-school program at St. John’s School in Puerto Rico and then pursued a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from Caribbean University, where I graduated December 2014. My thesis was composed of the history of Urban Art, with its artists and a registry for 2013. I am currently working as a Digital Media Manager and Product Photographer for Retail and Foodservice Companies, these give me the opportunity to keep doing what I love, in an industry that is challenged by new trends, keeping me always at the front line.
