ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Clevedon Pier sits out in the Bristol Channel, on the North Somerset coast, in the South West of England.
Sir John Betjeman described it as "the most beautiful pier in England" and was designated a Grade I listed building in 2001. The pier was built during the 1860s and has recently undergone a major refurbishment which attracts thousands of visitors throughout the year.
This area of coast also has the second highest tide in the world and produces some extreme weather conditions, from stormy seas to amazing sunsets.
On this occasion I had chosen a time when there was an in-coming high tide and on a clear fine day. I could then make the full use of a long exposure to accentuate the pier to allow it to stand alone, almost as a silhouette.
